We all hear of Jesus, but our reaction is what makes the difference ....


Well, it was a certain kind of fireworks on the first day of Evangelism Ministry week, 2016 at Asokwa McKeown!

Apostle warned at the start that the message was meant for outdoors, to the yet to be saved. At a point, it was like a revival and you could tell many of the members present felt they were hearing the gospel for the first time.

"Have mercy on me, Jesus, Son of David" was the topic, chosen from Mark 10:46-52.
Two issues were explored:

THE FORGOTTEN BARTIMEAUS?
1. Bartimeaus simply means son of Timeaus, so he did not even have a name
2. His address was the wayside, no house number
3. His sickness, blindness is among the most frustrating of all afflictions
4. As a man who begged all his life he must have felt really inhuman
5. Even the people around the Saviour discouraged and humiliated

BARTIMEAUS' TRUMP CARD
1. He heard of the Saviour (as everybody does)
2. He knew it was mercy he needed (He did not come with complains)
3. He cried out to the Saviour (as Son of David, clearly recalling the humble and almost hopeless beginnings of David, who later rose to become king through God's intervention)
4. The Saviour stopped for Him, as He would for all who call on Him for mercy
5. The Saviour sent to call him (as He still sends us to call those crying out to Him for mercy today)
6. At the word of the Saviour, the attitude of all those around Him changed from discouragement, oppression and resistance to "Have courage! Get up; He's calling for you."
7. In faith, he threw off his coat (what had been sustaining him in the past), jumped up (did the best he could do instantly in full obedience to the Lord), and CAME TO JESUS.

That was the end of Bartimeaus' blindness, as He got a new lease of life, and for his faith, eternal life as well.

Fantastic, from such a well know passage.
Apostle Ekow Wood said further that in this celebration, the gospel should be preached both when we are indoors and outdoors.

My personal reflections in addition to the above is the REPUTATION OF JESUS THAT MADE PEOPLE WANT TO ACCESS GOD THROUGH HIM - He went about doing GOOD. You may call it the REPUTATION that activates faith for the miraculous.
