LET GOD FATHER YOU

Image
You have always had a Father, waiting ... Main Reading: I John 3:1-10 Introduction When God created man, He clearly had in mind the cream of creation that is like Him in character and power, and He has not ceased from that agenda. He is achieving it, by letting us go through the mill of the fall and restoration. Before the fall, we were creation, hardly referred to as the children of God, but at the restoration, He introduces that authorization through the NEW BIRTH or ADOPTION. John’s first letter celebrates the consummation of the Divine desire, and points out that those who have appreciated this set themselves apart with purposeful dignity and industry, knowing they are destined for nothing less that the throne of God. He is categorical that those who fail to see this produce bad character, remaining as children of the devil. This discourse is brief survey of God’s declared intent to have nothing but a Father-Children relationship with us, and how we should av...

PROCLAIMING THE LORD'S DEATH

Image
Five Proclamations of the Blood of Jesus Main Readings: Luke 4:18-19 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes . (1Cor 11:26 NKJV) But you have come to …  Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel (Heb 12:22-24 NKJV) Introduction The blood of Abel, who was killed by his brother, most probably called for vengeance (just recompense, See Gen 4:10-16), which, though in itself not bad, God has reserved for Himself (Heb 10:30). The blood of Jesus however made room for the offender to escape the just consequences of his sin through repentance, and inherit even far more than he had before the fall. Blood is used in the Bible as evidence of death, or life given. God alone gives and has the right to take life. Under the Old Covenant, for example, when life was wilfully taken without recourse to God, the offender forfeited every right to his own ...

MIND THE NEW AND LIVING WAY

The Old Ways Lead to Death Main Readings: Heb. 10:19-25, Rom. 12:1-2, 2 Cor. 5:17 In Christ all things become new for a Believer. This new life must be well understood and lived by faith or be lost! It must guard and guide thoughts through action to the complete overhaul of character. The Believer must therefore take all care to mind the newness, primarily through studying and meditating on God’s Word. This sermon looks at the primary areas in which newness has come to transform the Believer in daily relationship with God and what to care about and do in this life: 1.        New Saviour and High Priest: Jesus is the New Saviour and Mediator of the Believer. Without Him, people all over the world seek to relate to God through atoning practices and mediators. Even for Israel it was required that a person presents animals to priests to be offered as sacrifices for sins committed. Other peoples go about their attempt to elicit response from God throu...

ONE BODY

Image
ONE BODY Main Reading: Eph. 4:1-6, Competence in evangelism begins with competence in loving other believers. If we do not discern the body of Christ, we risk judgement, and have no testimony. One who goes out to win souls but is unable to live with other believers is called a hypocrite. He is like the Pharisees and Scribes who “travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell” as themselves. (Mat. 23:15). This does not ignore the fact that it takes considerable effort to keep the unity of the Spirit according to the Lord’s standard, but He leaves us no other choice. Indeed if we fail at this we have no testimony and are unworthy of Him. In this sermon, we will meditate on Apostle Paul’s counsel on how to keep the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace. We have so much in common with other believers that we dare not condone discord among us. We should receive, regard and serve other believers, even up to the lev...

To be Born of God is All You Need

To be Born of God Looking at the dichotomy of the phasing out of all that God made to make room for all that God birthed! The focus is on the futility of being a church member without the new birth experience. Passage: John 3: 1-10 Supporting Texts: And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. So the LORD said, "I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them." (Genesis 6:6, 7) Lift up your eyes to the heavens, And look on the earth beneath. For the heavens will vanish away like smoke, The earth will grow old like a garment, And those who dwell in it will die in like manner; But My salvation will be forever, And My righteousness will not be abolished. (Isaiah 51:6) For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, bu...
