THE DELIVERANCE OF JESUS

Image
Jesus prayed for His own deliverance in the spirit of His need for endurance and service. We also pray that we are able to do and finish what we have been saved, called, and committed to do.  Bible Readings In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence. (Heb 5:7 ESV) This same Jesus (Acts 2:36) 1. He emptied Himself (Php 2:1 – 11) 2. He prayed to one able to save Him (Heb 5:7) Our Deliverance This same child of God 1. Emptied herself a. Repented - Ac 2:37 b. Denied herself of ‘right’ to worldly pleasures - Lk 9:23 c. Committed to pursuing the Kingdom of God (dedicated to making people enthrone Christ in their hearts, move away from evil and serve Him with transformed lives) - Mt 6:33 2. Prayed to one able to save her a. Because she realizes that repentance means loss of unjust means, Discipline and Fid...

THE BARTIMEAUS TRUMP CARD - Apostle Ekow Badu Wood

Image
We all hear of Jesus, but our reaction is what makes the difference .... Well, it was a certain kind of fireworks on the first day of Evangelism Ministry week, 2016 at Asokwa McKeown! Apostle warned at the start that the message was meant for outdoors, to the yet to be saved. At a point, it was like a revival and you could tell many of the members present felt they were hearing the gospel for the first time. "Have mercy on me, Jesus, Son of David" was the topic, chosen from Mark 10:46-52. Two issues were explored: THE FORGOTTEN BARTIMEAUS? 1. Bartimeaus simply means son of Timeaus, so he did not even have a name 2. His address was the wayside, no house number 3. His sickness, blindness is among the most frustrating of all afflictions 4. As a man who begged all his life he must have felt really inhuman 5. Even the people around the Saviour discouraged and humiliated BARTIMEAUS' TRUMP CARD 1. He heard of the Saviour (as everybody do...

FEED MY SHEEP: A PERSON THE LORD TRUSTS WITH HIS FLOCK

Image
Feed My Sheep: A Person the Lord Trusts with His Flock Main Reading: John 21:15-19 Jesus called twelve disciples, and at His resurrection, one stood tall – Peter to whom He said, “Feed my sheep”. This injunction primarily meant Peter was to lead the rest in prosecuting the agenda of the growing church. Peter was entrusted with feeding and tending the lambs and sheep of the Lord. The lambs could refer to children and new believers, while the sheep referred to older and more mature believers as well as people who are seeking Jesus (see John 10:14-16, 26-27; Mt 10:14, 1 Pe 2:2) What made Peter stand out among the rest of the apostles is not particularly difficult to discern, and they provide ample clues about what Jesus meant by “Feed my sheep”, the very ministry that Peter undertook. Here are some of the key qualities that stood Peter out a trustworthy Christian Shepherd: 1. Confession of Sinfulness : Peter is the only apostle on record to have confessed to the Lord that h...

7 ESSENTIALS OF BEING A CHRISTIAN

Image
A QUICK GUIDE FOR THE DISCIPLE-MAKING DISCIPLE 1.       REPENTANCE AND CONFESSION -          From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Mt 4:17 Before a person becomes a Christian, he or she is a sinner. What makes a person a Christian is that he or she believes with his or her heart that Jesus died for sinners to be forgiven and set free from the power of sin. He or she must then declare in the presence of other believers that Jesus is now his or her Lord forever, and that he or she will no longer live under the control of sin. Jesus told a parable in Luke 15:11-21 to show the importance of repentance and confession in becoming a child of God. You may also want to commit Romans 10:9-10 to memory. 2.       WATER BAPTISM – “ Therefore go and teach all nations, baptizing them in t...

ONE BODY

Image
ONE BODY Main Reading: Eph. 4:1-6, Competence in evangelism begins with competence in loving other believers. If we do not discern the body of Christ, we risk judgement, and have no testimony. One who goes out to win souls but is unable to live with other believers is called a hypocrite. He is like the Pharisees and Scribes who “travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell” as themselves. (Mat. 23:15). This does not ignore the fact that it takes considerable effort to keep the unity of the Spirit according to the Lord’s standard, but He leaves us no other choice. Indeed if we fail at this we have no testimony and are unworthy of Him. In this sermon, we will meditate on Apostle Paul’s counsel on how to keep the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace. We have so much in common with other believers that we dare not condone discord among us. We should receive, regard and serve other believers, even up to the lev...

Seven Lessons For New Followers of Jesus

Image
Where should I start off my New Converts' training? What materials exist and how can I access them? On this blog, we are very interested in answering these questions, practically. In the first place several materials exist, with various approaches. We will be presenting and discussing them. The one we have a very ready access to and can make available to you online for free is the LESSONS FOR NEW FOLLOWERS OF JESUS. This material is a one-page guide of seven lessons. It is designed to be studied one lesson-per-day for seven days. The lessons are carefully selected Bible verses and passages grouped under seven basic injunctions that Jesus gave. Each lesson is very briefly introduced with one or two concise statements. The Disciple-maker or Teacher is very instrumental in the use of this material: 1. He or she must first study the material, reading most of the verses and passages from the Bible for easier discussions. 2. He or she should emphasize the instruction in the introd...
