Read Bible for Yourself

The Bible explains itself. The Lord Jesus and the writers of the New Testament books and letters were proven by the Old Testament Scripture (OT). Their hearers and readers generally knew the OT context of their statements. The Gospel is really that straightforward.  Don’t get it wrong by turning from sin but not following Christ, or by trying to follow Christ without turning from sin. HOW TO TURN FROM SIN Keep away from doing any acts of wickedness and corruption, both those you have done before and those that will tempt you later on. Many of such sins are listed in the Bible. Disobedience to God and hatred of other persons are among the earliest sins indicated against Adam and Cain in the book of Genesis. In what is called the 10 Commandments, worshiping creation and doing several things that hurt others to our advantage are to be avoided (Exodus 20:1-20). When the Israelites sinned in the Promised Land, God warned them to turn away from wickedness, oppression of the poor and idolatry or be exiled. This was a necessary break from at least 10 doctrinal dimensions: 1. The relegation of evangelism from the forefront of the church's mission 2. The teaching that the work and manifestation of the Holy Spirit ceased in the first century, and that all manifestations of spiritual gifts today are fake 3. The teaching that some were pre-destined to be saved and some to damnation, and therefore preaching the Gospel to the unsaved is not the critical Christian mission 4. The elevation of so-called church tradition over Biblical truth and narratives 5. The insistence on observance of certain days or rituals as necessary for salvation (either in addition to or in place of repentance and faith in Jesus Christ) 6. The elevation of feelings and personal visions/perceptions above Biblical truth in determining the voice of God or the Holy Spirit. 7. Why Mature Women need to take more of the Initiative towards Marriage  On the few occasions that I have hinted at this, I have received the wide-eyed exclamation, “What, me a woman to propose marriage to a man?!” Yet how many men would one see at prayer camps praying to get a wife? When men are ready to marry, they literally walk out and bring a wife home! Is it thus not unfair that women do not (not cannot) exercise similar (not the same) initiative? Well, any unfairness in the matter cannot excuse the women from the blame of failing to take the right initiative. This is because women can exercise such initiative in their own fashion, as the remarkable story of Ruth in the Bible illustrates.  If a person knows the difference between good and evil and has somehow convinced himself that God has waived the consequences of either, he knows more than enough. No further time should be wasted on him.  When the Pharisees and others played that card, either by pre-qualification or PREDESTINATION, Jesus warned them and left them alone. He considered them twice lost: the blind who claimed to see! It is to the once lost that we are sent; to the people who still reel under the burden of sin, fully aware of the fleeting nature of sin's pleasures. These know they deserve God's condemnation because of their wrong doing, and are seeking to abandon their sinful ways if there is hope of salvation. These are the people walking in ignorance of God's redemption through Christ. Leave the door open to the twice lost, but go to the once lost with the good news, that THERE IS FORGIVENESS OF SINS IN THE NAME OF JESUS FOR WHOEVER TURNS AWAY FROM HIS SINS. #WarnThem
