Ten of the Things we Learn about the Holy Spirit

  1. He is the fulfilled promise to those sanctified by the blood of Christ Jesus.
  2. He did not dwell in other vessels before, according to Christ.
  3. Those sanctified in Christ are able to receive Him because they (a) have gone through true repentance, (b) have had their consciences purged and (c) have committed to total dependence on the Word of God.
  4. He is the presence of God everywhere that replaces the necessity of the temple (and even the priests)
  5. He makes us [kings and priests of] a kingdom of priests, Himself being the anointing
  6. His is the power that worked in the prophets: He is therefore able to give us what He gave them, namely, visions, dreams, healing and working of miracles; and make us powerful to serve as apostles, prophets, evangelists, teachers, bishops and deacons.
  7. He is our personal companion that keeps us sanctified through our consciences and hearts
  8. His way is (a) time away with Him in Bible study and prayer; and (b) time at work with Him in Christian fellowship and mission.
  9. Reasons why some people do not receive or retain Him include: (a) ignorance, (b) pride or condescension, (c) unwillingness to lay one’s self down as a servant or Christ (d) retention of some evil passions after becoming believers
  10. He is not for the destruction of the souls of men
