Priscilla and Aquila are the most prominent couple mentioned in the NT. 1.      They were noted together as being tentmakers (Acts 18:2-3) 2.      They accompanied Paul together on His journey from Corinth to Ephesus (Acts 18:18) 3.      Together they taught Apollo about Jesus beyond John’s baptism in their home (Acts 18:26) Why were they so as one body in everything? Would you like your marriage to be like theirs? The closest illustration of the relationship between Christ and His Church is marriage. A good marriage therefore illustrates the Gospel. Apparently it was responsible for all the work to be done in the temple, namely for burnt offerings, incense offerings (See Lev. 10:1) and lighting the lamps in the temple. Fire in the incense altar and the lamps could go out (Exodus 27:20, 21; 30:7,8, the lamps only had to burn from dusk to dawn and the incense was burnt at dawn at dusk), but fire on the burnt offering altar had to be kept burning throughout the night (Lev. 6: 9) and throughout the day (Lev. 6:12,13). One who goes out to win souls but is unable to live with other believers is called a hypocrite. He is like the Pharisees and Scribes who “travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell” as themselves. (Mat. 23:15). This does not ignore the fact that it takes considerable effort to keep the unity of the Spirit according to the Lord’s standard, but He leaves us no other choice.
