HOW TO SILENCE THE GATES OF HELL

HOW TO SILENCE THE GATES OF HELL AND SET CAPTIVES FREE MAIN TEXTS: MATTHEW 16:18, ACTS 4:23-31  Jesus asked His disciples to make disciples of all nations. The leaders of an unbelieving nation (people in land under one government) or tribe (a society or division of a society whose members have ancestry, customs, beliefs, and leadership in common) invariably develop systems by which they lord over their people (See Mat 20:24-25). The systems of bondage usually include belief systems, by which the leaders claim supernatural rights that their people are made to believe they have neither right nor capacity to challenge. The leaders themselves may not believe in the efficacy or integrity of these belief systems, but since they serve their purpose of oppression they defend them to the hilt. When any type of liberation for their people approach, they like to convince them that that their de facto rule is better and that they should rather rise up against the oncoming interventi...

MIND THE NEW AND LIVING WAY

The Old Ways Lead to Death Main Readings: Heb. 10:19-25, Rom. 12:1-2, 2 Cor. 5:17 In Christ all things become new for a Believer. This new life must be well understood and lived by faith or be lost! It must guard and guide thoughts through action to the complete overhaul of character. The Believer must therefore take all care to mind the newness, primarily through studying and meditating on God’s Word. This sermon looks at the primary areas in which newness has come to transform the Believer in daily relationship with God and what to care about and do in this life: 1.        New Saviour and High Priest: Jesus is the New Saviour and Mediator of the Believer. Without Him, people all over the world seek to relate to God through atoning practices and mediators. Even for Israel it was required that a person presents animals to priests to be offered as sacrifices for sins committed. Other peoples go about their attempt to elicit response from God throu...

I AM BORN AGAIN – HOW DO WE KNOW?

READINGS: 1 Peter 1: 22-23, 2 Corinthians 5:16-21 The new birth is a phenomenon that came only after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is the key guarantee that the Gospel of Jesus will be preached throughout the Earth, because it produces a new breed of people who are capable of living, working and even dying solely to free others from the power of sin. When a person is born again some signs manifest in him. If he nurtures these signs they make him grow in the image of Jesus Christ. The storms of the Christian life are designed to test as well as prove the truthfulness of the new nature. Our anchor must hold. Here are portions of Scripture to guide our meditations on who have been made and are expected to be. SIGNS Our new birth   shows   basically   when we: 1.         Love our enemies a.       But I say to you, Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate...

MINISTRY AMONG STUDENTS

MINISTRY AMONG STUDENTS IN PENSA KUMASI – VISION   2018 AND BEYOND Work among students is the ultimate generation gap bridging ministry. School is a controlled as well as rapid development environment: the student is taken out of the traditional church cultural environment that may otherwise transform at a relatively slower pace. They therefore have relatively greater freedom to adapt to best practices and current trends before returning home to impact the church more efficiently. The campus ministry must therefore be both swift and accurate. MARRIAGE THAT PREACHES THE GOSPEL

Priscilla and Aquila are the most prominent couple mentioned in the NT. 1.      They were noted together as being tentmakers (Acts 18:2-3) 2.      They accompanied Paul together on His journey from Corinth to Ephesus (Acts 18:18) 3.      Together they taught Apollo about Jesus beyond John’s baptism in their home (Acts 18:26) Why were they so as one body in everything? Would you like your marriage to be like theirs? The closest illustration of the relationship between Christ and His Church is marriage. A good marriage therefore illustrates the Gospel. The Gospel is the good news that Christ died for us that He might show Himself in us. Paul teaches how a good marriage preaches the Gospel in Ephesians 5: 22-33 1.      Christ gave himself for the Church –husband surrenders independence to stick to one wife 2.      Christ continues to demonstrate His love to His Church ...

DO THIS IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME

DO THIS IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME Main Reading: 1 Co 11:23-26, Exo 12: 1-14 Introduction Just before His death, our Lord solemnly asked His disciples to thenceforth observe the Passover feast in remembrance of Him. Up till then, it was observed in remembrance of the Passover lamb as an ordinance given under Moses. Several times, God asked them to observe the Passover, also called the feast of unleavened bread each year. The people themselves valued it so much that they instituted an annual vigil to mark the night in which they left Egypt (42). Anytime we partake of the Lord’s Table, however, we proclaim that indeed Christ is our Passover Lamb who died to free us from sin. We are free to worship God, free from the power of sin, death, the consequence of sin, and Satan, who controls through sin. What Did the Passover Lamb Do? 1.        It was killed and its blood spread on the doorposts to because the lord had said He would pass over Egypt and take th...
